HDMI
HDMI is a standard for video interfacing; it can
convey a massive amount of digital data. It means
it can easily support all HDTV standards.
HDTV
High-De nition Television.
Interactive
Gives you access to an interactive page offering
various information and services.
JPEG-EXIF
JPEG-Exchangeable Image File. A le format
developed by Fuji Photo Film for digital
still cameras. Digital cameras from various
manufacturers use this compressed le format,
which carries date, time and thumbnails
information, as well as picture data.
JPEG
A very common digital still picture format. A
still-picture data compression system proposed
by the Joint Photographic Expert Group, which
features small decrease in image quality in
spite of its high compression ratio. Files are
recognized by their le extension “JPG” or
“JPEG”.
Lip Synchronization
Setting used to synchronize sound and pictures
in case a delay is experienced, in particular if the
sound of speech does not match lip movements.
MPEG
Motion Picture Experts Group. A collection of
compression systems for digital audio and video.

Analogue audio
Sound that has not been turned into numbers.
Analogue sound is available from the LEFT/
RIGHT AUDIO outputs. The red and white
sockets send audio through two channels, the
left and right.
Aspect ratio
Aspect ratio refers to the length to height ratio
of TV screens. The ratio of a standard TV is 4:3,
while the ratio of a high-de nition or wide TV is
16:9. The letterbox format allows you to enjoy a
picture with a wider perspective on a standard
4:3 screen.
Delay
The time difference between a sonic event and
its perception at the listening position. Use the
Lip Synchronization feature to cancel the delay.
De-scrambling/scrambled
Many TV channels are scrambled. To de-scramble
them you need speci c smart cards provided by
different pay-TV providers.
Digital audio
Sound signal that has been converted into
numerical values. Digital sound is available
when you use the DIGITAL AUDIO OUT
COAXIAL. These sockets send audio through
multiple channels, instead of just two channels as
analogue does.
Dolby Digital
A surround sound system developed by Dolby
Laboratories containing up to six channels of
digital audio (front left and right, surround left
and right, centre and subwoofer).
DVB
Digital Video Broadcasting.
