Creating a Video DVD
When dubbing, use the input jack appropriate for the connecting device and the
image quality. Since the input jack here affects the disc selection, see also
“Usable disc” (page 29).
Hints
• You can down-convert HD (High Definition) videos to SD (Standard Definition) quality
by dubbing via the VIDEO IN or S VIDEO IN jack.
• When the [i.LINK CONV] setting on the Handycam
®
(HDV) is preset to [ON], you can
down-convert videos recorded in HDV format to SD (Standard Definition) quality by
dubbing via the DV IN jack.
Note
Note that you cannot dub:
− videos directly from a memory card inserted to the memory card slots on the DVDirect.
These card slots are for photo import only.
− both HD (High Definition) and SD (Standard Definition) videos to a single DVD.
− both the videos and photos stored in the camcorder at the same time.
− from an 8 cm DVD-RW formatted in VR mode in a Handycam
®
(DVD).
− videos with copy-protection signals (commercial DVDs, VHS software, some programs
from satellite or CATV receivers., etc.).
