Playback does not start when the
PLAY button is pressed?
Playback stops immediately after the
PLAY button is pressed?
A screen informs you that the disc
cannot be played.

level or to make another

The Video CD cannot display a
menu?
No picture or the picture
shown is not the DVD picture.
Playback
• Make sure that the disc (single sided) is loaded correctly with the
title label facing up.
• This player can play a DVD, Video CD and Audio CD only,
check that your disc belongs to one of these formats (see page 11).
• The disc is dirty. Wipe it with a soft and clean cloth (page 2).
• Condensation occured inside this player. Leave this player at
room temperature for 1 or 2 hours.
• The disc's region No. differs from your player's region No.
(page 40).
• Your initialised rating setting in the set-up menu prohibits the
playing of this DVD. This DVD has been set with an age
restriction (page 18 / 28).
• Some DVDs have segments where search forward & reverse
playback functions will not work.
• Only a Video CD with playback control (PBC) can display a
menu.
• Switch off the other video device connected to the AV2 jack of
the DVD player.
• Ensure that the input setting for the TV is an audio / video (AV)
position, e. g. AV 1, AV 2.
• Check the SCART output selection for AV 1 (video / s-video /
RGB), page 25.
Operation is not possible?
Single " " appears on-screen?
TV or video recorder cannot be
operated by the remote control.
Remote Control
• Load the batteries with their polarities (+ and –) aligned correctly
(page 4).
• Batteries are low. Replace with new ones (page 4).
• Point the remote control to the front of the player (page 7).
• Operate the remote control within 8m distance of the player.
• Remove any obstacles between the remote control and the
remote sensor of the player.
• When " " appears on-screen, it indicates an invalid button press.
• Not all models can be operated with the universal remote control
supplied.
