After all preparation steps have been completed,
the machine and its safety features must be
tested to ensure correct operation. If you discover
a problem with the operation of the machine or its
safety components, do not operate it further until
you have resolved the problem.

49 for solutions to common problems that may

Mill Test Run
1. Read and follow the safety instructions at the
beginning of the manual, take required safety
precautions, and make sure the machine is
set up and adjusted properly
2. Clear away all tools and objects used during
assembly and preparation.
3. Make sure that the mill is properly lubricated
(refer to the Lubrication section on Page 44
for specific details).
4. Set the spindle speed to the low range (refer
to Page 33 or 35 for detailed instructions).
5. Move the downfeed selector to the manual
(forward) position so that the spindle does
not downfeed during this test (refer to the
Downfeed Operations section on Page 36
for detailed instructions).
6. Connect the mill to the power source speci-
fied in the POWER SUPPLY section on
Page 14.
7. Use the spindle switch to turn the mill ON.
For Model G0747: Turn the spindle switch to
the FLOW (forward low) position, as shown in
Figure 14.

For Model G0748: Turn the spindle switch
to the FOR (forward) position, as shown in
Figure 15.
8. Listen for abnormal noises and watch for
unexpected actions from the mill. The
machine should run smoothly and without
excessive vibration or rubbing noises.
— Strange or unusual noises or actions must
be investigated immediately. Turn the
machine OFF and disconnect it from the
power source before investigating or cor-
recting potential problems.
