Recording Mode
DV (480i):
The player records signals in the interlace scan
mode (half of 525 scanning lines at 1/60th of a
second).
The image will be recorded in an aspect ratio of 4:3.
The DV mode is suitable for playback on a
conventional 4:3-screen TV.
SD (480p):
The player records signals in the progressive scan
mode (525 scanning lines at 1/60th a second at one
time).
The SD mode reduces flickering more effectively
than a recording in DV mode.
The image will be recorded in an aspect ratio of
16:9. The SD mode is suitable for playback on a
wide-screen TV or high definition TV.
HD (720p):
The player records signals in the progressive scan
mode (750 scanning lines at 1/30th of a second for
recording and 1/60th of a second for playback at
one time).
The HD mode enables digital high definition
recording that offers higher picture quality than a
recording in SD or DV mode.
The image will be recorded in an aspect ratio of
16:9. The HD mode is suitable for playback on a
wide-screen TV or high definition TV.
