Measuring the Distance Between a Specified Point and a Specified Face ([Point to Face])
Use the following procedure to measure the distance between a specied point and a specied face on the
selected element.
Operating Procedure

Check on the [Point to Face].

Select the points on the element by us-
ing the Select menu.

Click the Right mouse button.
A face is tted with the selected points, and
the tted face will be displayed in an element
view window.

If you want to redo the face extracting, click the Right
mouse button again.

Specify a single point on the element by
clicking on it.
The distance between the specied point and
the face is calculated, and the calculated re-
sults will be displayed in the upper-right win-
dow of the [Tool – Measure] dialog box, and
the line showing the distance will be displayed
in an element view window.

You can specify a different point by clicking on it.
If you want to change the specied face, click the Right
mouse button at anywhere.
Parameters Returned When Measuring Distance Between Specied Point and Specied Face ([Point to Face])
Dist.
Distance between point and face. (White line in an element view window.)
Point
Coordinates of the circle’s center point. (White point in an element view window.)
Plane normal
Value of selected face’s normal vector.
Point on the plane
Coordinates of a point on the selected plane. (Yellow on-face point in an element view window.)
