Timer Recording
You can enter up to 16 programs up to a month in advance.
Preparation
≥Select the unit viewing channel (or the AV input) on the TV.
≥Check that the clock is set to the correct time. If it has not been set,
refer to page 46.
≥Insert a video cassette with an intact erasure prevention tab.

≥Press [VHS].
Entering the PlusCode numbers is an easy way of timer recording.
You can find these codes in TV listings in newspapers and
magazines.
≥When connecting a cable TV box or satellite receiver, the VCR
Plusi system does not work. Program the timer recording
manually (l right).
[1] Press [VCR Plus_].
[2] Press the numeric buttons to enter the
PlusCode
number.
≥Press [2] to move back to correct a digit.
[3] Press [ENTER].
Confirm the program
and correct it if
necessary using [3,
4, 2, 1]. (l right,
step 3).
≥“INVALID ENTRY” is displayed when you enter the wrong
PlusCode number. Reenter the PlusCode number.
[4] If the program is correct
Press [ENTER].
≥“ ” lights on the unit’s display.
[5] Press [RETURN].
≥When connecting a cable TV box or satellite receiver, select the
channel on the cable TV box or satellite receiver before timer
recording starts.
[1] Press [PROG/CHECK].
≥Make sure “NEW TIMER PROGRAM” is selected.
[2] Press [ENTER].
[3] Use [1] to move
and change the
items with
[3, 4].
≥You may use the
numeric buttons to
enter “CH”, “DATE”, “ON” and “OFF”.
≥CH (Program Position/TV Station Name)
≥DATE
You can also make a daily or weekly program.
≥ON (start time)/OFF (finish time)
The time increases or decreases in 30-minute increments if
you hold down the button.
≥Tape speed
You can also press [REC MODE] to change the recording
mode.

[4] Press [ENTER] when you have finished making
changes.
≥“ ” lights on the unit’s display.
≥To continue programming:
Select “NEW TIMER PROGRAM” and repeat steps 2–4.
[5] Press [RETURN].
Note
≥“ ” and “1” flashes when the unit cannot perform timer
recording (e.g., video cassette with no prevention tab or no video
casette in the cassette compartment).
≥The actual time recorded may be longer than the program itself
when TV programs are recorded using VCR Plus_ system.
≥If you set “DST” (Daylight Saving Time) to “ON” when manually
setting the clock (l 46), timer recording may not work when
summer switches to winter and vice versa.
∫To stop recording while a program is working
Press [∫, STOP], then [ENTER] within 5 seconds.
≥You can also press and hold [∫] on the main unit for more than 3
seconds to stop recording.
∫Caution for Timer recording
Timer recording automatically starts at the set time.
≥Timer recording can be started whether the unit is turned on or
off. When the unit is turned off, the sound and the video cannot
be outputted to the TV.
