“AUTO” (l 22).
Press [VHS STATUS].
The time and operation
details appear on the

seconds.
Notes:
These displays do not appear when paused or during slow play.
The on-screen display may be distorted depending on the playback
tape or the input signal.
To change the audio, press [AUDIO].
The audio changes as follows:
When playing a tape: LR>L>R>Normal audio track>LR
While watching the TV: LR>L>R>Normal>LR
You cannot change the audio while you use “dc” channel (l 38).
¬ To play back tapes recorded Stereo or Bilingual programmes
(NV-VP33GL only)
Select the desired sound mode with [AUDIO] during playback.
Recording on the unit is automatically made in the stereo or
bilingual mode. This prevents errors in the selection of the
dubbed or the original language.
¬ The NICAM Broadcast System (NV-VP33GN only)
NV-VP33GN is equipped with the NICAM sound system. NICAM is a
2-channel sound broadcast system to provide either a high quality
stereo sound track or 2 independent MONO sound tracks, M1 and
M2. NICAM programmes are always accompanied by standard
sound broadcasts and you can select the desired sound with
[AUDIO] during playback.
The NICAM digital stereo sound can only be recorded on the Hi-Fi
audio track.
To record the regular sound (ordinary normal sound) on the FM
audio tracks when a NICAM programme is received, set
“MONAURAL” to “ON” (OPTION l 22).
IMPORTANT
When NV-VP33GN is switched on, the tuner will be automatically
switched to a NICAM broadcast, if NICAM is being transmitted.
At this time the NICAM signal is transmitted on stereo channels
only, since the M1 and M2 formats are not yet available. Even if the
sound track is MONO, the stereo indicator will appear.
