When the AUX(auxiliary input) is set to off
(refer to page 63).
When AV INPUT1 (video input 1) and/or
AV INPUT2 (video input 2) are not set to
VIDEO (refer to page 65).
! External unit refers to a Pioneer product (such
as one available in the future) that,although
incompatible as a source, enables control of
basic functions by this unit. Two external units
can be controlled by this unit.When two exter-
nal units are connected, the allocationof
them to external unit 1 or externalunit 2 is
automatically set by this unit.
Loading a disc
% Insert a disc into the disc loading slot.
Playback will automatically start.
# When a disc is loaded inthis unit, press
AV SOURCE to select DVD.
# If DVD D. AUTO is turned off, press
AV SOURCE to select DVD (refer to the previous
page).
# If DVD A. PLAY is on, SOME DISCS MAY
NOT FULLY OPERATE ON THIS SYSTEM is dis-
played. (Refer to Automatic playback of DVDs on
page 61.)
# To ejecta disc,press EJECT.
Notes
! The DVD player plays one, standard,12-cm or
8-cm (single) disc at a time. Do not use an
adapter when playing 8-cm discs.
! Do not insert anything other thana disc into
the disc loading slot. Discs whichcan be
played back are listed on Playablediscs on
page 8.
! If you cannot insert a disc completely or if
after you inserta disc the disc does not play,
check that the label side of the disc isup.
Press EJECT to eject the disc,and check the
disc for damage before inserting itagain.
! If the DVD player does not operate properly,
an error message such as ERROR-02may be
displayed. Refer to Error messageson page 73.
! If bookmark function is on, DVDplayback re-
sumes from the selected point.For more de-
tails, refer to Resume playback (Bookmark) on
page 32.
Turning the unit off
IP-BUS mode (S)
% Turn this unit off from your head unit.
Refer to the head unit operation manual.
# If you press AV SOURCE and hold to turn this
unit off, Power off (POWEROFF) appears on the
head units display.
ADD-ON mode (M)
% When using the touch panel keys,
touch the source icon and then touch
SOURCE OFF.
# When the source icon is notdisplayed, you
can display it by touching thescreen.
% When using the button, press
AV SOURCE and hold until the unit turns
off.
Using the rear display
You can watch a DVD/Video CD on the rear
display regardless of whether DVD (built-in
DVD player) is selected as the source or not.
! To watch a DVD/Video CD on the rear dis-
play only, switch the operation mode on the
remote control to DVD. And you can oper-
ate the DVD/Video CD playback on the rear
display independently by the remote con-
trol. (Refer to page 17.)
