Troubleshooting
What appears to be a malfunction may not always be serious. Please go through the following list before requesting service.
POWER
Symptom Possible cause Remedy
Power does not come on. Power plug is not inserted securely. Plug in securely.
OPERATION
Symptom Possible cause Remedy
The remote control unit does not work. Too far from the unit. More closer to the unit.
The tip of the remote control unit is not
pointed in the right direction.
Point the infrared light- emitting window
toward the remote sensor on the front
panel (see page 12).
Batteries are exhausted. Replace the batteries with new ones.
Battery polarity is incorrect. Take out the batteries and insert them again
in the correct direction.
The remote control unit is not set for
operating your TV.
Set the remote control unit for operating
your TV (see page 13).
The TV/VIDEO - CANCEL, 5//2/3 or
numeric buttons do not work.
The TV - DVD switch is not correctly set. To control the unit, set the TV - DVD switch
to
DVD. To control your TV, set the TV -
DVD switch to
TV (see page 13).
Operation is not possible. Microcomputer malfunction due to
lightning or static electricity.
Turn off the power and unplug the power
cord, then connect the power cord again.
Moisture condensation caused by a sudden
change of temperature or humidity.
Turn off the power, then turn it on a few
hours later.
The disc does not allow the operation.
Or a non-playable disc is loaded.
Check and replace the disc (see page 4).
The disc tray carousel does not move. The system malfunctions.
An alien substance is jammed on the
carousel.
Press 7 or turn off the power.
When using the TITLE/GROUP button to
select a title during DVD VIDEO playback,
appears on the TV screen and the title
cannot be selected.
The disc does not allow the operation
because of disc contents.
Try to press 7 and select a title using the
numeric buttons on the remote control
unit.
