PICTURE
Symptom Possible cause Remedy
No picture is displayed on the monitor. Connection of video cable is incorrect. Connect the cable correctly.
Input selection of TV is incorrect. Select correctly.
Disc is not playable. Use a playable disc (see page 4).
No picture is displayed on the monitor or
the screen is blurred or divided into two
parts.
The Progressive scanning mode is set to
ON though the unit is connected to a TV via
the VIDEO OUT jack.
Set the Progressive scanning mode to OFF
(see page 8).
A picture is noisy or blurred. The unit is connected to a VCR directly and
the copyguard function is activated.
Connect the unit so that the picture signal
flows directly to the TV.
With some discs, a picture may be blurred
when setting
PROGRESSIVE MODE to
FILM or AUTO.
Set PROGRESSIVE MODE to VIDEO
(see page 63).
A picture does not fit the television screen. MONITOR TYPE is not correctly set. Select monitor type correctly (see page 63).
Television is not correctly set. Set the television correctly.
The upper and lower parts of the
preference display are cut off when using
wide-aspect TV.
It depends on the setting on the TV. Adjust the TV screen using the control on
the TV.
AUDIO
Symptom Possible cause Remedy
No audio is reproduced. Connection is incorrect. Check the connection.
Input selection of amplifier is incorrect. Select correctly.
Audio volume is low when playing back the
unit, compared with the TV or VCR.
The audio level recorded on a DVD VIDEO
is lower, compared with TV broadcasting.
Turn up the volume of the TV or amplifier/
receiver.
Note that you should turn down the volume
before switching back to TV broadcasting,
to prevent outputting the sudden big
sound.
Sound is distorted or noise is generated. Disc is dirty. Wipe the disc surface (see page 5).
MULTI CH is shown in the display
window when playing back a DVD AUDIO
disc.
The track is prohibited from down-mixing
to 2-channel stereo audio.
Listen in multichannel surround audio.
