Advanced Playback—Continued
With the Random function you can enjoy a random
selection of discs, titles, chapters, groups, tracks, or fold-
ers.
Notes:
To select the next random disc, title, chapter, group,
track, or folder during random playback, press the
Next [ ] button.
Random playback may not work with some
DVD-Video and JPEG discs.
To use the Random function with a VCD that supports
PBC, you must first turn off PBC (see page 58).
Random playback cannot be used with the Memory
function.
You can’t use the [SEARCH] button during random
playback.
During random playback, the remote controller’s
arrow [ ], [ ], [ ], [ ] buttons cannot be used with
the Disc Navigator.
If you select another disc, random playback will be
cancelled, except when the random option is set to
“All Disc,” in which case playback continues.

Select a disc.

Press the [RANDOM] button
repeatedly to select a random
option.
The currently selected random option
appears onscreen and “RANDOM”
appears on the display.
The available options depend on the
current disc type, as follows:
DVD-Video: Title, 1 Disc, All Disc,
Off.
DVD-Audio: Group Random, 1 Disc
Random, All Disc Random, Random
Off.
SACD: 1 Disc Random, All Disc Ran-
dom, Random Off.
VCD/CD: 1 Disc, All Disc, Random
Off.
MP3/JPEG: Folder, 1 Disc, All Disc
(files in subfolders are not played).
With the “Title” option, chapters within
the current title are played at random.
With the “1 Disc” option, all titles,
chapters, groups, tracks, and folders on
the current disc are played at random.
If you press the [RANDOM] button
during playback, random playback
begins after the current disc, title, chap-
ter, group, track, or folder has finished.

Press the Play [ ] button to start
random playback.
