Playback
To play repeatedly
Press REPEAT repeatedly to select an item to be
repeated.
[Chapter]: repeats the current chapter. (DVD only)
[Title]: repeats the current title. (DVD only)
[Track]: repeats the current track. (VIDEO CD
only)
[All]: repeats all the tracks on the disc. (VIDEO
CD only)
[Off]: does not play repeatedly.
Notes
For a VIDEO CD with PBC function, set [PBC] to
[Off] in [Settings] Setup (page 74).
If you press ./> (previous/next), x (stop), or
(instant replay) during Repeat Play, Repeat Play
is cancelled.
To repeat a specific portion (A-B)
You can play a specific portion of a title, chapter,
or track repeatedly.
1 During playback, when you find the starting
point (point A) of the portion to be repeated,
press A-B.
[A-] appears on the TV screen.
2 When you reach the ending point (point B),
press A-B again.
[A-B] appears and the recorder starts
repeating this specific portion.
To return to normal playback, press A-B to
select [Off].
Note
A-B Repeat Play may not work properly with some
Super VCDs.
To play in random order (VIDEO CD or Karaoke
DVD only)
Press RANDOM during playback. [RANDOM]
appears on the TV screen.
To return to normal playback, press RANDOM
again.

To play another title in random order, press ./>.
Note
For a VIDEO CD with PBC function, set [PBC] to [Off]
in [Settings] Setup (page 74).
To watch TV in the sub picture during playback
(Picture-in-Picture)
You can view a TV programme in the sub picture
while playing a disc.
Press (Picture-in-Picture) during playback to
turn on the sub picture on the TV screen.
To change the programme position or input source
for the sub picture, press PROG +/– or INPUT
SELECT.
To change the sub picture position, press </,.
Each press moves the sub picture clockwise or
counterclockwise.
To turn off the sub picture, press again.

If you watch TV in full screen, press x to stop playback.
Notes on Surround effect
The function may not work with some discs.
When you turn on this function, turn off the surround
settings of the connected TV or amplifier (receiver).
Make sure that your listening position is between and
at an equal distance from your speakers, and that the
speakers are located in similar surroundings.
The function does not work if you connect to an
amplifier using the DIGITAL OUT (COAXIAL or
OPTICAL) jack.
Note on playing DTS sound tracks on a CD
When playing DTS-encoded CDs, excessive noise will
be heard from the analogue stereo jacks. To avoid
possible damage to the audio system, the consumer
should take proper precautions when the analogue stereo
jacks of the recorder are connected to an amplification
system. To enjoy DTS Digital Surround™ playback, an
external 5.1-channel decoder system must be connected
to the digital jack of the recorder.
Notes on playing DVDs with a DTS sound track
DTS audio signals are output only through the DIGITAL
OUT (COAXIAL or OPTICAL) jack.
When you play a DVD with DTS sound tracks, set [DTS]
to [On] in [Audio] Setup (page 75).
