This function lets you prevent your children viewing unsuitable material.
You can use this handy function if the disc features recorded parental lock
coding. With parental lock discs, this function works by skipping violent or
other scenes you don’t want your children to see. For details, read the
disc’s instructions. Once the secret number has been set, the restricted
viewing level remains the same until the number is reset.
Try not to forget the secret number. If you do, you must return to the initial
settings. (For detail, see the bottom of this page.)
This lets you select a desired language for menus on discs that have them
in multiple languages.
This lets you select and set the usual language for movies in the same way
as for subtitles. Even if you change the language during play, or change
discs, the language changes to the one set.

This sets basic language and basic subtitle language to the same
language beforehand. When the basic language and basic subtitle language
are not identical, if you switch "DISPLAY" OFF and "ASSIST" ON in the
subtitle menu, it's the same as switching Auto OFF . With Auto on, the
original language and subtitle language are automatically selected. When
the language and subtitle language are the same, subtitles are not displayed.
Language Selection may not operate in this way with certain discs.
¶ You can select a language (see page 49) and select a subtitle language
(see page 50) part way through a movie.
Off Basic subtitle language and basic language are those selected.
The subtitle which is displayed by discs can be selected, when the subtitle is set to "OFF".
W. AUDIO : The selected audio language will be selected.
S. SUBTITLE : The selected subtitle language will be selected.
When watching wide mode software, this lets you adjust aspect ratio to suit your TV.
This shortens the time required to change from A to the B side, or from the
B to the A side when playing an LD. If you use this function, display of
remaining and total time are not possible.
You can select the graphics display position and graphics channel with CD
graphics discs.
Switching between audio output from this product’s optical digital output
jack or digital output (coaxial) PCM/∂ jack is possible. Dolby Digital (sound
system used at cinemas etc.) and Linear PCM (the same digital signal as
CDs) are the two standards for DVDs.

96 kHz: With PCM audio discs that have a sampling frequency of 96 kHz,
this assures high sound quality. However, when in the KARAOKE mode or
AUX INPUT mode, the sampling frequency is compressed to 48 kHz during
play. With discs that have a sampling frequency of 48 kHz, play is performed
with sampling frequency unchanged at 48 kHz.
48 kHz: During play, this compresses sampling frequency of 96 kHz discs
to 48 kHz. 48 kHz discs are played as they are at a sampling frequency of
48 kHz.
¶ You can select the sampling frequency to match that of the audio signal
recorded on a disc. Simultaneous switching between Analog output/Digital
output is performed to match your selected sampling frequency.
¶ Some 96kHz DVDs are copy protected. With this kind of disc, no signal is
output from the digital output terminal.
To return to the initial settings if they have been changed since you purchased the player, perform the following procedures.
If power to the player is ON, switch it OFF. While power is OFF, press the
STOP
button while pressing the
POWER
STANDBY/ON
button.
All memorized settings are erased.
