Activate
Activate
Now its time to activate services for your DIRECTV
Digital Satellite Recorder. Before
you make the phone call:
The recorder should be on, tuned to channel 100, and receiving a signal from the
satellite dish antenna. (Channel 100 shows preview programming from DIRECTV.)
You will need: a valid service address, social security number, and a major credit card
(deposit prepayment may be required). You will also need the number on your
DIRECTV access card and the make, model and serial number of your recorder, found
on a label on the back of the recorder and on the System Information screen. (Press the
DIRECTV button, then select Messages & Setupthen System Information.)
Important! The access card that came with your DIRECTV
Recorder must be
inserted in the appropriate slot in front of the recorder before you call. Also, be sure to
tell your customer care agent that you have a DIRECTV
Digital Satellite Recorder
and that you also want to activate the DIRECTV
Digital Video Recording service.
Without the DVR service, your recorder will not be able to record programs.
When you are ready, call 1-800-531-5000.
After you have activated, you can begin Phone Setup, the last step of Guided Setup, by
pressing the DIRECTV button.
What does DIRECTV
Digital Video Recording service provide?
The DVR service provides you with the ability to record programs, create Season Pass
recordings and WishList
searches. It also gives you access to Showcases, TiVo
Suggestions, and several convenient ways to find programs to you want to record. Without
the DVR service, the unit functions only as a DIRECTV Receiver, without recording
capability.
Remember to place the access card
in the appropriate slot in front of
the recorder. See the setup examples in
chapter two for details.
