Getting to Know the DV-SP1000/DV-SP1000E—Continued
The DV-SP1000/DV-SP1000E’s remote controller is a
multipurpose device that can be used to control not just
the DV-SP1000/DV-SP1000E but an Onkyo AV
receiver, TV, and VCR. This section explains how it’s
used to control the DV-SP1000/DV-SP1000E or an
Onkyo AV receiver. See page 90 for information on
using it to control TVs and VCRs.
Controlling the DV-SP1000/DV-SP1000E
(DVD Mode)
In DVD mode, the remote controller controls the
DV-SP1000/DV-SP1000E. To select DVD mode, press
the [DVD] MODE button.
For detailed information, refer to the pages in parenthesis.
A Tx/Learn indicator (86)
This indicator lights up when the remote controller
is transmitting commands. It’s also used when con-
figuring the remote controller for use with a TV or
VCR.
B ON button (42)
This button is used to turn on the DV-SP1000/
DV-SP1000E.
C STANDBY button (42)
This button is used to set the DV-SP1000/
DV-SP1000E to Standby.
D Number buttons (48, 49, 56)
These buttons are used to enter title, chapter, group,
and track numbers and to enter times for locating
specific points in time.
To enter a single-digit number, simply press the cor-
responding button. To enter a double-digit number,
enter the numbers in order from left-to-right (e.g., to
enter 14, press [1] then [4].
The [+10] button is used to enter multiples of ten
(i.e., 10, 20, 30, and so on). For example, to enter
the number 25, press the [+10] button twice fol-
lowed by the [5] button.
E DIMMER button (51)
This button is used to adjust the display brightness.
F SEARCH button (48, 49, 56)
This button is used to search for titles, chapters,
groups, tracks, and specific points in time.
G MEMORY button (59)
This button is used with the Memory function.
H DVD MODE button
This button is used to select the remote controller’s
DVD mode.
I ZOOM ON button (56)
This button is used to turn the Zoom function on
and off.
J Arrow [ ]/[ ]/[ ]/[ ] & ENTER buttons

The arrow buttons are mainly used to navigate
onscreen menus. The [ENTER] button is used to
confirm choices.
K ZOOM [+/–] button (56)
This button is used with the Zoom function to zoom
in and out.
L RETURN button (47, 52, 70)
This button is used to return to the previously dis-
played onscreen setup menu.
M DISPLAY button (63)
This button is used to display information about the
current disc, title, chapter, group, or track, including
the elapsed time, remaining time, total time, and so
on.
