9.3.2 Skip Search
The VCR will fast forward or rewind until it finds an index signal. It then plays back
for about four seconds in 2H or 6H mode. It repeats this process until reaching the
end or beginning of the tape.
1. Press the COUNTER MEMORY/SKIP/INDEX button to illuminate SKIP on the
fluorescent display.
2. Turn the SHUTTLE ring to the right or left.
3. Until it finds the index signal, the VCR will fast forward (or rewind). When it finds
the index signal, the VCR plays back (at 2H or 6H mode) for about four sec-
onds. It repeats this process until the end or the beginning of the tape is reached.
4. Press the PLAY button when the desired location is found. Or, press the STOP
button to end the skip search.
The index signal may be hard to find in some recording conditions.

9.4 ADJUSTMENT DURING PLAYBACK
9.4.1 Tracking Adjustment
If noise appears in the picture during playback, fast playback, reverse playback, or
forward/reverse slow playback, adjust the TRACKING buttons (+/-) for the best picture.
Press the PAUSE/SHUTTLE HOLD button while turning and holding the SHUTTLE
ring to adjust the tracking in fast playback, reverse playback, or forward/reverse
slow playback.
To return tracking to its initial setting, press the TRACKING buttons at the same
time during playback, reverse playback, or forward/reverse slow playback.

Noise bars may appear when in
