Heading Select Mode (HDG)
1) Turn the
HDG
Knob to move the heading bug
on the HSI to the desired heading. When the
knob is turned, the Selected Heading Box will
appear and remain for three seconds after the
knob stops moving. The selected heading will
be displayed in the Selected Heading Box.
2) With the autopilot and/or flight director
engaged, press the
HDG
Key. ‘HDG’ is now
displayed in green in the Active Mode field. If
the autopilot is engaged, the aircraft will begin
to turn toward the selected heading. When
the selected heading is reached, the aircraft
will maintain this heading. If only the flight
director is engaged, manually maneuver the
aircraft to the command bars to aquire the
selected heading.

3) The heading may be adjusted by turning the
HDG
Knob and moving the heading bug to a
new heading. The aircraft will turn in the same
direction the heading bug is moved. However,
if the heading bug is moved more than 340
degrees at a time, a turn reversal will be the
result.
