ILS Approach
1) Transition from GPS Navigation Mode to Heading
Select Mode.
a) Load the Runway 29R ILS approach for KFAT
into the Flight Plan.
b) Select ‘Vectors to Final’ for the transition.
c) Set the Selected Heading after getting vectors
from ATC and press the
HDG
Key. The autopilot
turns the aircraft to the desired heading.
2) Use Heading Select Mode to comply with ATC
vectors as requested.

3) In preparation for approach, tune the localizer
frequency and select LOC mode on the HSI.
4) Press the
APR Key when cleared for approach
to arm the Approach Mode. ‘LOC’ and ‘GS’
appear in the armed roll and pitch mode fields,
respectively.
The autopilot and flight director determine when
to begin the turn to intercept the final approach
course.
5) The autopilot flies the ILS Approach. At the
Decision Height, there are two options: push the
AP DISC switch and land the aircraft, or use the
Go Around button
to execute a missed approach
(refer to the following procedure).
