First Initial Setup Screen Second Initial Setup Screen
At the right of the screen are the default settings on your VCR. The default settings are
the ones that are preset at the factory. Look at each item to see if it matches your own
setup:
 To change a setting, press the button that has the same number as that item, this
will cycle you through several options.
 When everything is set up as you want, press DISPLAY to set the second Initial
Setup Screen. When everything is set up as you want, press GUIDE twice to back out
the Easy Guide System.
You need to set items 1 and 2 on the First Initial Setup Screen the first time you set up
your VCR and any time you have a lengthy power outage. The rest of the items can be
set later as needed.
Here is what the options in the First Initial Setup Screen mean:
1 ANTENNA/CABLE Press 1 to select the type of receiving setup you have:
<ANT.> Internal or external antenna
<CATV1> Ordinary cable
<CATV2> Alternate cable (if CATV1 doesn't give you the channels you
expect)
2 AUTO CHANNEL SETTING Press 2 to automatically program the VCR to receive
all the channels that come in on your antenna or cable.
3 ADD OR ERASE CHANNEL Press 3 to bring up a screen that lets you add new
channels or limit the channels to the ones you most often watch.
4 VCR CODING Press 4 to enable the remote control to control a second VCR.
Options are <VCR1> and <VCR2>.
5 MOVIE RETURN Press 5 to select whether you want prerecorded movies (safety
tab removed) to play automatically when loaded, and then rewind, eject, and turn off
the power when done. Options are <ON> and <OFF>.
6 ENDLESS PLAY Press 6 to play the tape from the beginning to the end repeatedly.
Options are <ON> and <OFF>.
7 AUTO DATE MEMO Press 7 to record the date and channel at the beginning of the
recording. Options are <ON> and <OFF>.
