5.2.3.5 Hyper I/E
While hyper magazines are designed as 20-disc magazines, they may also be
used as high-capacity mail slots. Although slots and mail slots are usually
defined differently, turning ON the Hyper I/E mode allows hyper magazines to
respond like mail slots.
The SCSI subsystems are divided into four types:
• Media Changing System (i.e. robotic system)
• Storage System (i.e. slots)
• Import/Export system (i.e. mail slots)
• Data Transfer System (i.e. drives)
To turn OFF the Hyper I/E function, follow the steps below.
Hyper I/E?
Press the Enter button
Hyper I/E is
set to ON / OFF
Press the left arrow button
Hyper I/E is

Press the Enter button
Hyper I/E
is activated
When the Hyper I/E function is set to OFF, the following message appears:
Hyper I/E
is prohibited
Since hyper magazines retain their attributes as storage elements while the
Hyper I/E mode is set to ON, the control software may treat a hyper magazine
as an import/export component.
