Basic Operation
The information in this section presumes you’ve successfully transferred files to your Lyra Recorder, and you’re ready to
play different types of files.
If you need specific setup information (downloading music, transferring files, installing software), go to Chapter 1.
If you want more detailed information about the Lyra Recorder’s menu system, go to page 23.
Understanding how to navigate through the Lyra Recorder’s menu system, as well as how the buttons operate, will give you
the information you need for basic functionality.
The main menu displays Video, Music, Photos, Audible, Files, and Setup on the left side of the LCD screen. The navigation
scheme is the same no matter what menu you access:
• Press the up or down arrow buttons to highlight different items on the screen.
• Press the right arrow button to open a folder or sorting category to display the item’s (Video, Music, etc.) contents.
• Press the left arrow button to close a folder or sorting category and move back one level.
• Press the up or down arrow button to highlight a file, then press SELECT button to display the Options menu, or
press right arrow to start playback. Press SELECT again to pause playback. If a folder or playlist is highlighted, press
right arrow to open (expand) the folder or playlist and display it’s contents.
Note: All songs in a music folder can be played by pressing and holding the right arrow button.
• To pause playing a file, press SELECT to bring up the Options menu. Pause is already highlighted, so just press
SELECT again.
• To stop playing a file, press the ON/OFF button on the top of the player.
• Press and release the BACK button to go back one level. Press and hold the BACK button to return to the main
menu.
Adjusting the Volume
While a file is playing, use the touchpad to adjust the volume. The volume buttons on the remote control are for TV or
audio receiver functionality only, and will not adjust the Lyra Recorder’s volume.
Switching the Speaker and Headphones
While the volume control is displayed, you can switch between using the internal speaker or headphones. To change the
sound output, start playing a file and use the touchpad to bring up the volume control. Press the SELECT button to toggle
the speaker and headphone icons.
