Photo files added to the hard drive through Windows Explorer via drag and drop do not appear in Photos
navigation mode.
• Photo content must be stored on the hard drive in the PHOTOS system folder in order to be properly recognized and available
for playback. Sub-folders may be created under the PHOTOS system folder for easy navigation and organization of your photo
files.
I can’t find the files I copied to the Lyra Recorder’s hard drive
• If you can’t find a file, remember to check the Files menu. All files are listed here, so it would be easier to look here than in the
individual menus separately.
Frequently Asked Questions
How do I return to the Main menu?
• Press and hold the BACK button (located on the right side of the device) while in the menu system to return to the Main menu.
A momentary press of the BACK button brings navigation up one level.
Why should I profile my content?
• Profiling the audio content on your Lyra Recorder creates the necessary sorting categories (Artist, Album, Genre, etc. from id3
tags) so your Lyra Recorder can understand it. Without profiling, the Lyra Recorder will simply act as a mass storage device; any
new audio content will NOT be displayed in audio mode.
How do I profile content?
• In the Setup menu, go to the Audio/Video menu and select Profile. Go to page 26 for more details on the profiler.
Note: Video and Photos content will appear in the Navigation menus based on the folder/file structures in the
VIDEO and PHOTOS system folder.
Why can’t I to play Video or Audio files directly from the SD/MMC memory card?
• The Lyra Recorder only allows jpeg (.jpg) photo content to be displayed from the SD/MMC memory card. Because of the
memory and processing requirements, all other file types must be copied from the SD/MMC memory card to the device.
Why doesn’t the Lyra automatically recognize Video, Audio, and Photo content and assign them to the appropriate
folders on the Lyra?
• Because of the massive storage capacity of the Lyra Recorder, the device isn’t capable of this. Video files MUST be stored in the
VIDEO sub folder of the Lyra Recorder. Photo content must be stored in the PHOTOS sub folder of the Lyra Recorder.
Note: Sub folders can be created under each of the three main folders to further sort and manage your files.
Example; “My summer vacation”, “graduation 2003”, “our first picnic”, could be created under the “Photos”
folder. This would allow you to locate and navigate specific folders much more quickly.
What is an “.avi file”?
• AVI stands for Audio Video Interleave and has been defined by Microsoft. It is the most common format for Audio/Video data
on the PC. The Lyra Recorder plays .avi files that contain mpeg4-sp video and mp3 audio compression formats.
Why does the Lyra split up my recording into multiple files?
• The file size limit when recording is 4GB, so if your file is larger than that, it will be split into multiple files.
Why are there two files per book?
• One is the book and the other contains your bookmarks and settings.
