hoping someone can assist me....I have a sony KV 34HS510 and after reading all of the posts...which were great.... I realize that the blinking
"stand by" lights
were due to a bad power supply/transformer. Can someone let me know what I should be paying to repair this .... I dont want to be ripped off
too much.
Thanks so much
Anna

Too much?LOL You should not want to get ripped off at all my friend. LOL Those blinking codes are to point the tech in the area where the
problem is. They do not mean specifically that the flyback is bad, but to look in that circuit for the fault. However sometimes the fly is the
problem. This type of repair could run you anywhere from 200 bucks all the way up to 400 bucks. You could simply take out the D board and
ship it out to ptscorp, and they could rebuild it, but you would have to know how to disassemble the TV set and what to adjust when you got it
back. Good Luck

HV CIR and a CTL CHIP? Oh heck maybe the High voltage circuit, and a control chip. If that is a diagnosis from a repair shop, it sounds like
total BS!!
annaobc on September 19, 2007 7:44 PM
why do you say BS?

Can you send me the service manual for the kp-46wt500? Iwas getting 6 blinks. Service tech says it will be $370 to replace the "horizontal
output, flyback transformer and the processor." Does this sound legit?

Thanks

annaobc, I am sorry rushing to conclusion. This just sounds like a scammer response from a tech to make an expensive repair sound worth
the cost of the estimate. I never heard of replacing just the High Voltage circuit, and also the control Chip? Never heard of such a thing. Get
another opinion by an authorized Sony repair shop.

Hi Larry
I got a Sony KP-53XBR45 for a nieghbor and it doesn't turn on, it blinks 7 times. I think I read on this forum that it is a power problem , is it
worth fixing?? Thanks!!!

This was an authorized sony shop that came to the house....we had no power at all on the tv...standby lights blinking....and everyday for the
week prior....each time we either turned on or off the tv...it made a 'popping' sound.
They replaced the power supply, the HV cir and ctl chip..and we received the tv back yesterday. It seems to be working fine,,,but...of
course...now....(This is hard to describe) but the horizential lines are off....goes down on the left side...we called them 3x....they never
returned call.
Thanks for all your expertise and help.

Oh OK, maybe they rushed to soon to get the TV back to you. If they do not call back soon, contact Sony. You set sounds like it needs to be
adjusted.

Larry, do you have the service manual for a kp-46wt500? I would like to see what parts the tech is refering to and be sure he is repairing the
tv according to Sony's specs. I would also like to look into getting a replacement board instead of fixing the components if I can order it for
around the same price. The tech said the flyback transformer went bad and shorted the horizontal output. He also said that the processor IC
(is this the jungle ic?) is on a different board and is also bad. Does $370 sound reasonable for this repair? I do not know if these guys are
honest or not.

Hi,
I have a kv-x2962u model SONY TRINITRON television. I have looked on the Sony website for the technical manual but no luck. Your posts
seem to be extremely good and helpful, well done!
What I'm after is finding out what the error code the TV is displaying refers to.
It switches off after a while of being on and the 1st LED flashes 1 time, then the 2nd LED flashes 13 times. This sequence repeats itself
