Troubleshooting
If the server blade does not start:
1. Be sure that the server blade is fully seated in the server blade enclosure.
2. Be sure that power is applied to the server blade:
Check the status using the system power LED. For the location and
explanation of the system power LED, refer to the “Server Blade Front Panel
LEDs” section in Appendix E, “LEDs and Switches.”
Check the server blade management modules and power management
modules for proper cabling and power configuration switch settings.
Use the Blade Power Management section of iLO to verify that at least
14 Amps are available.
The server blade is configured to power up upon insertion. However, if you
changed that setting, be sure that the Power On/Standby button was pressed
firmly.
Check that the circuit breakers on the bus bars are positioned up.
3. If the system does not complete POST or start loading an operating system:
Use the iLO remote console or the iLO system status page to identify POST
messages. Refer to the HP Integrated Lights-Out User Guide on the
Documentation CD.
Refer to “General Loose Connections” in the HP ProLiant Servers
Troubleshooting Guide on the Documentation CD.
— Refer to
www.hp.com/servers/rdp for instructions on Rapid Deployment.
4. Be sure that the server blade is not rebooting repeatedly:
a. Be sure that the system is not rebooting due to a problem that initiates an
ASR-2 reboot.
ASR-2 is defaulted to restart the server blade automatically, loading the
operating system. If a critical error occurs, ASR-2 logs the error in the IML
and restarts the server blade.
For more information, refer to the “Automatic Server Recovery-2” and
“System Short Circuit” sections of the HP ProLiant Servers Troubleshooting
Guide on the Documentation CD.
b. Use the iLO remote console to identify a possible thermal event.
