the corresponding POSSIBLE CAUSE and CORRECTIVE ACTION columns to locate and remedy the problem.
TROUBLESHOOTING GUIDE
Picture
SYMPTOM
There is no picture.
The playback picture is poor.
Screen size is wrong.
“ ” appears on the TV screen.
TV picture does not appear on the TV
screen.
TV reception worsens after connect-
ing the unit.
The playback picture or TV program
from the equipment connected
through the unit is distorted.
POSSIBLE CAUSE
The video cable is not connected.
The TV is not set to receive signals from the unit.
No disc is loaded.
“PROGRESSIVE” mode is set.
The disc is dirty.
An unplayable disc is loaded.
Incorrect aspect ratio setup on TV.
Incorrect “TV Display” setting.
The aspect ratio of the disc is fixed on your DVD
The selected function does not operate on the disc
now.
The antenna cable is not connected.
TV channel is not selected.
RF signals are weak.
The program contains copy protection signals that
restricts copying.
CORRECTIVE ACTION
Connect the video cable into the jack.
Select the correct input function on the TV.
Load a disc. See page E45.
Select “INTERLACE” mode. See page E44.
Clean the disc or replace it.
Load a playable or recordable disc. See page E38.
Refer to your TV’s owner manual.
Select the appropriate setting for your TV screen
size. See page E30.
The feature or action cannot be completed at this
time because:
• The operation is prohibited by the unit or the disc.
• The feature is not available at the moment.
• The DVD software restricts it.
• The DVD software doesn’t support the feature
(e.g., angles).
See the antenna connections. See page E8.
• In “NO DISC” mode, (1) press the n button, (2)
press the TV button, (3) and press the CHANNEL
button (+ or -) or press the number buttons on the
remote control.
• Press the INPUT button to select the TV mode.
• Press the TV/DVD button on the remote control to
select the TV mode.
RF signals are being divided between the unit and
the TV. Use a signal booster. Please consult your
A/V dealer.
Disconnect the playback equipment form the unit
and connect it directly to your TV.
Power
SYMPTOM
No power.
POSSIBLE CAUSE
The power cord is not connected.
The power is not on.
CORRECTIVE ACTION
Insert the power plug into the AC wall outlet.
Press the POWER button to turn the power on.
Operation
SYMPTOM
The operation or display is not normal.
POSSIBLE CAUSE
The unit must be reset.
CORRECTIVE ACTION
1. Disconnect the power cord.
2. Connect the power cord again.
3. Operate the unit.
