The PIP Screen and the Quarter Screen
The PIP screen and the Quarter screen look alike, but they are different. The Quarter
screen is actually the main TV screen, but it has been reduced, as shown here, to fit
within Explorer screens such as the Recorded Program Options screen.
To control the program in the Quarter screen, use the main keys on the remote control.
To control the program in the PIP screen, use the PIP keys.

From the Quarter screen,
you can use any of the main
remote control keys such as
Pause, Rewind, Fast-forward,
or Record.
From the main TV screen,
you can use any of the main
remote control keys such as
Pause, Rewind, Fast-forward,
or Record.
From the Picture-in Picture screen,
you can use any of the dedicated PIP
keys, such as Swap or Move.
Note: To control or record the program in the PIP screen, first swap it to the
main TV screen. For details, see “Record Two Programs at Once” on page 28.
