• There is no recording on the disc.
• You inserted the wrong disc type.
• The parental control feature is activated. For deactivating the parental
control feature please read section “Parental control” in chapter
“User preferences” (see page 70).
• The disc may be dirty. Try cleaning the disc.
• Make sure the disc is placed with the labeled side facing up.
• The region code of the disc may not match that of the DVD recorder. In
this case, the disc cannot be used.
• The disc may not be compliant to an industry standard.
• You have selected the wrong source (“SOURCE” button). Select the
correct source (DVD).
• The cables connecting the TV and the DVD recorder may be loose.
Check the cables.
• It is possible that this (Super) Video CD contains a menu and the
“PBC” function on your DVD recorder is switched off. Press the button
“MENU” on the remote control while the (Super) Video CD is inserted
and select “PBC On” by pressing again the “MENU” button.
• Press the “SUBTITLE” button on the remote control to switch the sub-
titles on.
• The subtitle display is only supported on DVDs.
• The TV channel you want to record is not stored or you selected the
wrong programme number. Check the TV channels stored.
• The TV signal is unstable. No recording can be made. A message
appears on the TV screen.
• A finalized (finished) DVD+R has been inserted. Change the disc.
• No disc has been inserted for recording. A message appears on the TV
screen.
• A copy-protected disc has been inserted for recording. It is not possible
to copy a copy-protected disc. On the TV screen appears the message
“Signal is copy protected.”
• You have set the wrong time or date. Check the time and date.
• You have not set the timer properly. Check the programmed recordings
(timer block) by pressing the button “SCHEDULE” on the remote con-
trol.
• A finalized (finished) DVD+R has been inserted. Change the disc.
• During playback via the internal TV tuner (“SOURCE” button), switch
to recording mode “HQ”, as this will give you the best possible picture
quality. How to change the recording mode is described in chapter
“Manual recordings”, section “Selecting the recording mode (qual-
ity)” (see page 53).
• Have your antenna or cable TV signal checked.
• It may be necessary that a TV channel has to be set again or fine tuned.
Please read the section “Manual TV channel search” in chapter
“Installing your DVD recorder” (see page 28).
A specific disc does not play.
(Super) Video CDs cannot be played.
Subtitles are not shown.
No recording possible.
Programmed recording does not
work.
There is picture or sound interfer-
ence with the TV reception or the
picture quality is not satisfying.
