13.5 Inhibiting Power Supplies
Power supplies can be inhibited through the CMM. This is accomplished using the following
command:
cmmset -l chassis -d psinhibitN -v 0
Where N is the number of the power supply that is to be inhibited.
Note: When a non-IPMI supply is inhibited, a SEL entry is logged indicating a failure condition. When
the non-IPMI supply is enabled a SEL entry is logged indicating that the power supply has
recovered from a failure condition. This does not occur in current IPMI-compliant power supplies.
13.6 Enabling Power Supplies
To enable a supply which has been inhibited, issue the following command:
cmmset -l chassis -d psinhibitN -v 1
Where N is the number of the power supply that is to be enabled.
Note: When a non-IPMI supply is enabled a SEL entry is logged indicating that the power supply has
recovered from a failure condition. This is because when a non-IPMI supply is inhibited, a SEL
entry is logged indicating a failure condition. This does not occur in current IPMI-compliant power
supplies.
