FCC Compliance
The following text is extracted from Federal Communications
Commission (FCC) regulations, as of the publication date of this
Guide. Contact the FCC (s ee following) or your library for the
complete text of the regulat ions.
Telephone Communication
This equipment complies with Part 68 of the FCC rules . On the re ar panel of
this equipment is a label that contains, among other information, the FCC
registration number and ringer e quivalence numbe r (REN) for this
equipment. If requested, this information must be provided to the telephone
company.
The REN is used to determine the quantity of devices which m ay be
connected to the telephone line. Excessive RENs on the telephone line m ay
result in the devices not ringing in response to an incoming call. In most, but
not all areas, the sum of the RENs should not exceed five (5.0). To be certain
of the number of devices that may be connected to the line, as determined by
the total RENs, contac t the t elephone company to determine the maximum
REN for the calling area.

This equipment uses the following Universal Service Order Code (USOC)
jacks: RJ -11C.
A plug and jack used to connect this equipment to the premises wiring and
telephone network must comply with the applicable FCC P art 68 rules a nd
requirements adopted by the ACTA. A compliant tele phone cord and
modular plug is provide d with this product. It is de signed to be connected to
a compatible modular jack that is also compliant. See installation
ins tructions for details.
Connection to party line service is subject to state tariffs. Contact the state
public utility commission, public se rvice commission or corporation
commission for informa tion.
If your home has specially wired alarm equipment connecte d to the
telephone line, ens ure the installation of this [e quipment ID] does not disable
your alarm equipment. If you have questions about what will disable alarm
equipment, consult your telephone company or a qualifie d installer.

company will notify you in advance that temporary discontinuance of service
may be required. If advance notice is not practical, the telephone company
will notify the custom er as soon as pos sible. Also, you will be advised of
your right to file a complaint with the FCC if you believe it is necessary.
The telephone company may make changes in its facilities, equipment,
operations, or procedures that could affe ct the operation of the equipment. If
this happens, the telephone compa ny will provide advance notice in order for
you to make the necessary modifications in order to maintain uninte rrupted
service.
