Connecting to a device equipped
with DVI connector
DVI (Digital Visual Interface) is a standard that outputs digital-
ized image data to digital display devices. Using DVI enables
the display of high quality images without degradation of the
data due to analog conversion.
The DVD-V8000 is equipped with a DVI output connector and
can be connected digitally with display devices equipped with
DVI input connectors. (Complies with DVI 1.0)

Display
When connecting to a device with DVI for the first time, the
DVI connection screen will be displayed. The player will auto-
matically set the resolution to that recommended by the con-
nected DVI device and display the setting information. Set-
tings can be changed manually if desired, and reset data is
stored for up to 5 individual devices even when power is
turned off. For manual setting instructions, refer to the sec-
tion “DVI connections” under Initial Settings (page 48.)
Note
When connecting this player to a DVI device, the mes-
sage [DVI] and the set resolution will appear for a few
seconds in the main unit’s display.

Important
Copyright-protected discs cannot be displayed by DVI de-
vices that do not support HDCP (a content protection sys-
tem for digital image data).
Resolutions output to DVI devices
VGA (640 x 480 pixels) progressive image
720 x 480 pixel progressive/interlaced image
720 x 576 pixel progressive/interlaced image
1280 x 720 pixel progressive image
1920 x 1080 pixel interlaced image
Important
If the connected display does not support any of the reso-
lutions listed above, the video images may not be displayed
properly.
720 x 576 pixel progressive/interlaced images are
selectable only during the playback of PAL discs.
Note that VGA, and 720 x 480 pixel progressive scan/in-
terlaced scan video can only be selected when playing
NTSC discs.
With some displays, inputting a non-supported display
mode signal may result in an inability to display images
until the power has been switched off then on again.
