Connecting to an AV surround
amplifier
Multichannel surround sound can be enjoyed by connecting
this player to an AV amplifier equipped with digital input/out-
put connections (e.g., Dolby Digital or DTS).
Connect the AV amplifier to this player’s optical digital audio
output connector or coaxial digital audio output connector.
Even when using digital audio connections, it is recommend
to connect the stereo analog connections as well.
Note
Video connections can be made using component, S-video
and DVI in addition to composite format. However, the
same kind of connections used between the DVD-V8000
and the AV amplifier must also be used between the AV
amplifier and the display.
Important
This player’s optical digital connector uses a shutter mecha-
nism. When connecting to the optical out connector, be
sure to orient the connectors correctly and connect firmly.
Forcefully inserting the connector in an incorrect direction
may result in warping the shape of the terminal, prevent-
ing the shutter from closing even when the cable is dis-
connected.
