b Notes
The maximum continuous recording time to the
HDD is 12 hours for a single title. A title longer
than 12 hours is divided.
Situations below may cause slight inaccuracies
with the recording time.
– Recording a program with poor reception, or a
program or video source of low picture quality.
– Recording on a disc that has already been
edited.
– Recording only a still picture or just sound.
Programs are recorded in the following aspect
ratio.
– In the original aspect ratio, when recording to
the HDD (when “HDD Recording Format” is
set to “Video Mode Off” in the “Recording”
setup (page 109))/DVD-RWs/DVD-Rs (VR
mode).
– In 4:3, when recording to DVD+RWs/
DVD+Rs.
When recording to DVD-R DLs (Video mode),
the title is divided when the layer switches.
The recorder can receive and record stereo/
SAP programs.
Before recording SAP programs, press the
AUDIO button to select the desired sound to
record. Each time you press the button, you
can switch sound from the followings:
“Stereo”: select this if you want to record in
stereo sound.
“Mono”: select this if you want to record in
monaural sound.
“SAP”: select this if you want to record in
SAP sound.
SAP (Second Audio Program)
When a SAP (Second Audio Program) is
received, the “SAP” indicator lights up on the
front panel display.
z Hint
If there is no SAP sound while playing the recorded
SAP program, even if you have selected “SAP”
using the AUDIO button before recording, and the
program is recorded on the HDD (when “HDD
Recording Format” is set to “Video Mode Off” in
the “Recording” setup (except in PCM recording
mode) (page 109)) or DVD-RW/DVD-R formatted
in VR mode (except in PCM recording mode), try
to press the AUDIO button to switch the sound
setting.
b Notes
Before recording, be sure to select the desired
sound (“Stereo”/“Mono”/“SAP”) for recording
by pressing the AUDIO button. You cannot
change the recording sound after the recording
starts.
If no SAP programs are broadcast in your area,
the program is recorded in main sound, even if
SAP sound is selected for recording.
Pictures with copy protection cannot be
recorded on this recorder.
* The recorded disc can be played only on CPRM
compatible equipment (page 9).
