System Cooling
The Dell PowerEdge 4200 system contains three redundant cooling fans in the
left side of the chassis. Two of the fans are used to cool the system, and the
remaining fan is activated only in the event of the failure of one of the two pri-
mary fans or in the event of an over-temperature condition in the chassis.
Additionally, a fourth cooling fan is installed in the upper power supply bay in
systems equipped with only one power supply.
Cooling Fan Connectors
Up to four fans attach to the system board via fan connectors (see Figure 1-16).
Power supplies containing fans supply the +12 V power for their respective fans
directly.

tem board components. Figure 1-18 shows the main features of the system
board.
