1. Check your inventory. The processor upgrade kit consists of the following:
2. Locate the diskette included in the processor upgrade kit containing the most
recent version of firmware for your system. If the firmware on your system is an
earlier version than the firmware version printed on the diskette, upgrade your
system's firmware now.
You may upgrade and check the version of your system's firmware with the
System Management Services. For instructions, see Chapter 3, “System
Management Services” on page 3-1 .
Attention: It is very important that you upgrade your firmware before replacing
the processor in your system. Your system cannot restart if the proper
version of firmware is not installed. Check your firmware level and if
necessary, upgrade your firmware before installing the new processor.
3. Locate the four-slot EMC shield included in your processor upgrade kit. The
shield must be installed if your system unit is not already shielded.
