Recording quality and time
For the disc
You can set the quality of the recording. The table below shows the
relationship between quality and recording time:
Quality Time
HQ – Very high quality 60 minutes on a
4.7 GB blank DVD
SP – High quality 120 minutes on a
4.7 GB blank DVD
SP+ – Good quality 150 minutes on a
4.7 GB blank DVD
LP – S-VHS picture quality 180 minutes on a
4.7 GB blank DVD
EP – Better than VHS picture quality 240 minutes on a
4.7 GB blank DVD
SLP – VHS picture quality 360 minutes on a
4.7 GB blank DVD
SEP – Longest recording time 480 minutes on a
4.7 GB blank DVD
For the HDD archive
You can set the quality of the recording. The table below shows the
relationship between quality and recording time:
Quality Time
HQ – very high recording quality 35 hours
SP – high recording quality 67 hours
SP+ – good recording quality 83 hours
LP – S-VHS picture quality 101 hours
EP – better than VHS picture quality 133 hours
SLP – VHS picture quality 203 Stunden
SEP – longest recording time 272 hours
Notes:
The quality and recording time are interdependent. The better
the quality, the more memory the recording requires. This
means that the recording time is shorter in high quality mode
than in standard quality mode.
The recording quality (HQ, SP, SP+, LP, EP, SLP or SEP) is selected
automatically during playback.
Playback is viewed with the recording quality that was selected
for the recording.
