7. Restart the logic analyzer, using the procedure in step 4.
8. Start the TLA 700 application on the logic analyzer if it is not already
running.
This completes the setup of TPI on the logic analyzer for operating with a remote
client machine.
Next, you need to set up the client machine so that it can connect to the logic
analyzer. Refer to the appropriate setup:
H Setting Up a Client Machine that is Running Microsoft Windows 95
on page 45.
H Setting Up a Client Machine that is Running Microsoft Windows NT
on page 48.
H Setting Up a Client Machine Running on Any Other Platform
on page 49.
After you set up the logic analyzer, you must set up the client machine using the
following procedure:
1. Install and configure TCP/IP. (networking)
2. Load the Tektronix TPI Client Install diskettes supplied with the TLA 700
instrument.
3. Double-click on Setup.exe.
4. Download the following from Microsoft’s web site. Microsoft’s web site is:
http://www.microsoft.com/com/dcom95/download–f.htm
H Distributed COM for Microsoft Windows 95 (DCOM95)
H DCOM for Microsoft Windows 95 configuration utility (only required for
user level access)
Install the downloaded files and restart the TLA 700 after each installation.For
more information on DCOM, refer to the Microsoft website.
You must set up the client machine to match the access level you chose for the
logic analyzer (share-level or user-level access). Refer to the appropriate access
type to continue with the setup procedure:
H Setting Up Share-level Access for Microsoft Windows 95 on page 46.
H Setting Up User-level Access for Microsoft Windows 95 on page 47.
NOTE. You can switch between user- and share-level access later by redoing the
Setting the Access Level procedure on page 44, from step 3 onward.
