Setting options
• NICAM
MONO
When this function is set to “NICAM,” the NICAM audio programmes will be received (or
recorded). (See page 22.)
When this function is set to “MONO,” the standard (monaural) audio programmes will be
received (or recorded). If you receive a NICAM bilingual programme with this function set to
“MONO,” the sound will be muted.
NOTE
This function works only for NICAM bilingual programme.
JUMP TIME

You can locate a scene ahead or behind of the current one by jumping a selected time interval
during playback (or Live Memory: Playback) or recording (or Live Memory: Recording).
O.S.D.
Setting options

OFF
With this function set to “ON,” various operational indicators (for HDD and TV tuner
operations) appear on the TV for a while when you operate the HDD deck.
NOTE
•When you use this unit as the playback component for editing (dubbing to a VCR, etc.), be sure to set
“O.S.D.” to “OFF” before starting.
DIRECT REC

When this function is set to “ON,” you can easily start recording the programme that you are
watching on the TV (received by the TV itself, not through the TV tuner built in this unit) by
pressing
(record) on the unit (or by pressing

) while holding

on the
remote control).
NOTES
•This function is possible only when a TV offering T-V Link, etc. is connected with a fully-wired 21-pin
SCART cable. (See page 11.)
•If “DIRECT REC” is set to “OFF,” follow the procedure described in “Basic Recording” (see page 23).
•During Direct Recording, “– –” appears in the display window.
•If a programme is recorded with Direct Recording, the station name will not be registered for HDD
Navigation. “– – – –” will be shown for the station name.
•To record S-Video signals through the L-2 IN or INPUT F-1 connector, make sure that “DIRECT REC” is
set to “OFF”; otherwise, the recorded picture will lose colour.
