Controlling Power to an Outlet
TheadditionofaPowerStriptotheParagonIIsystemallows
administratorstocontrolthepowertodevicesintwoways:
Control Power from the Channel/Server Selection Menu
NormalParagonIIoperationinvolvesbrowsingthelistofserversinthe
OSUIandpressingEntertoswitchtothatserver.BypressingF3instead
ofEnterwhenaserverishighlighted,ParagonIIwillcheckthatserverfor
PowerStripoutletassociations:
• IfParagonIIdoesnotdetectanyas
sociationswiththatserver,a
messageindicating”NoOutlets/AccessDenied”appears,andthe
actioniscancelled.
• Iftheserverhasassociatedpoweroutlets,buttheuserisnot
authorizedtocontrolthoseoutlets,a”NoOutlets/AccessDenied”
messageappearsandtheactioniscancelled.
• IfPa
ragonIIdetectsthatthisserverisassociatedwithatleastone
poweroutlet,itwillswitchtothatserver.TheOSUIwillremain
onscreen,displayingalistofpoweroutletsassociatedwiththe
specificserver.Thisallowsuserstoseetheserverbeforepoweris
cycledtoit.
Fourcho
icesareofferedinthismenu:PowerOff(X),PowerOn(O),
RecyclePower(R),andSelectAll(A).
IftheserverispoweredOFF,pressingOwillpowerONtheoutlet
instantly.
IftheserverispoweredON,pressingXorRwillactivatea
confirmationdialog“Areyousu
re(yes/no)?”Asasafeguard,
typethewholewordyes,toconfirmcuttingpowertotheserver.
Typinginyonly,oranywordotherthanyeswillbetakenasa
“no”response.
Inthecaseofaserverassociatedwithmultipleoutlets,suchasa
serverwi
thdualpowersupplies,pressingAwillhighlightallof
theassociatedoutlets,allowingthemtobeturnedon,off,or
recycledsimultaneously.
