Teaching FTG Conguration to an STB
This section describes how to transfer (Teach)anFTGCongurationlefromaUSBmemory
device to an STB using the USB Download Menu “Teach To STB (TLX)” option. The FTG
CongurationlemaybecreatedeitherintheFTGFileManagerorfromaMasterSTBSetupthat
was saved (Learned) from a Master STB. Refer to “Creating an FTGCongurationFile”onpages
45 to 46 for information on creatinganFTGCongurationleusingtheFTGFileManager.
Before You Begin
• Ensure the USB device has been formatted with FAT format.
• If the EZ-Manager Wizard appears on the screen when you turn ON the Target STB/display, you
can usethewizard’s“USBConguration”optiontoaccesstheUSBDownloadMenuandcomplete
the Teaching process (see “TVCongurationOptions”and/or“USBConguration”onpages17and
22, respectively, as necessary).
• You may also use the LG Smart Install utility to complete the Teaching process. See “LG Smart
Install Utility” on pages 23 to 24 for further information.
• If the Target STB is currently in Pass-through Mode and you intend to use the STB’s Zoning
feature(s)—i.e.,theFTGCongurationleyouareTeachingcontainsanFTGChannelMap
and/orFTGprole(s)withTVZoneand/orWi-FiZoneassignments—make sure to assign the
appropriate TV Zone # and/or Wi-Fi Zone # in the STB when directed to do so in the procedure
below. See Reference section, “Using the STB’s Zoning Features,” for further information.
• IftheFTGCongurationlecontainsanFTGChannelMapthatwascreatedintheFTGFile
Manager, each logical channel number in the FTG Channel Map has been assigned a physical
RF channel or an Aux input (the latter designated by 130-0 through 137-0—see also Reference
section,“STBAuxInputConguration”).IftheFTGCongurationlecontainsanFTGChannel
Map that was Learned from an STB, the physical RF channels in the FTG Channel Map have
beenassignedlogicalchannelnumbers(see“LearningFTGCongurationfromanSTB”on
pages 49 to 50).
• IftheFTGCongurationlewascreatedintheFTGFileManager,itmaycontainmultiplezoned
FTGInstallerMenuprolesfordifferentSTB/TVmodels.Makesureitincludestheappropriate
InstallerMenuprole(s)fortheTargetSTB(s)beforeTeaching.
Caution: Do not unplug the STB power cord or remove/disconnect the USB memory
device while Teaching, as doing so may cause the STB to malfunction or harm the USB
device, respectively.
Teach FTG Conguration to Target STB
1. Turn ON the Target STB/display panel.
2. The next step depends on whether the EZ-Manager Wizard appears on the screen when you
turn ON the STB/display:
• If the wizard is displayed, you can complete the Teaching process via the wizard, as indicated
above. However, to continue with this procedure and access the “Teach to STB (TLX)” option
from the STB menus, exit the wizard. Then, continue with step 3.
• If the wizard is not displayed, go directly to step 3.
