The jam function of the DV824 internal generator allows taking over generating time
code after the generator locks to the external time code timing.
Using the jam function, even if time code connection is cut after lock is achieved, the
DV824 time code generator can run with extreme accuracy (its own crystal accu-
racy). Therefore, the DV824 can stripe time code in sync with the separated external
machine.
Jam function (the optional Model 8348 required)
To execute the jam function, the following condition must be satisfied.
1) External TC is fed to the [TIME CODE INPUT] connector which is provided
with the optional TC/SYNC card.
2) The frame rate matches between external TC and the DV824.
3) "Gen Mode" is set to "Free Run" (see page 128 for details).
* The time display mode is set to "TC IN" and external TC value is shown.
Playing back time code
During playback, time code recorded on an audio file is played back to-
gether with audio signals and output from the [TIME CODE OUTPUT] con-
nector provided with the optional TC/SYNC card. The playback time code
value is shown on the display when the time mode is set to "LTC".
Time code output setting
You can select the time code source fed from the [TIME CODE OUT] con-
nector between "Repro" (playback time code) or "Gen" (generator time
code) via the "Sel. TC Out" menu item in the "TC SETUP" menu of the
MENU mode. The default is "Gen". See page 131 for details.
<Note>:
When the "Sel. TC Out" menu item in the "TC SETUP" menu of the
MENU mode is set to "Gen", the [TIME CODE OUTPUT] connector outputs
time code generated by the internal TC generator.
If necessary, the following menu items in the "TC SETUP" menu should be
appropriately set.
<Menu items which affect time code output>
1) "Edit LTC Start" menu item (for LTC start time setting). See page 132.
2) "Rep Pause TC" menu item (for TC output while paused). See page 134.
3) "Rep TC Ubit" menu item (for userbit setting of playback time code). See
page 133.
<Note>:
While "Sel. TC Out" is set to "Gen", generator time code is output in
the following conditions:
• When "Gen Mode" is set to "Free Run".
