Setting up a digital output track
Set the output tracks according to the type of digital signal selected in “Digi. Out ?”
in Setup mode. In the following setup items, Lch=1~16 and Rch=1~16 are outputs
of S/P DIF digital signals and will be output only from DATA OUTPUT 1-8.
At output of "adat" digital signals, signals from DATA OUTPUT 1-8 and DATA
OUTPUT 9-16 will be respectively output to ch1~8 and ch9~16.
* Refer to “2-16. Digital output track setting in Setup mode” on page "159" for more
information on the procedure and details.
* Initial setting: adat
* Options: L ch=adat, ch1~16, R ch= ch1~16
* This parameter is common to all Programs.
* This parameter setting cannot be saved or loaded as part of the song data.
* This parameter settings will be retained after the power is turned off.
* All tracks including tracks specified for digital output also output analog signal.
Setting up an external device
Set the external device so that it will accept a digital signal. On some devices, you
may need to set it so that the device will synchronize to the input digital signal.
For example, if you are using a Fostex RD-8, select “DIGITAL IN” for input, and set
“Clock Source” (external sync signal) to “Word Optical (adat).”
<Note>
When you are monitoring the digital signal from the external device and a signal cannot
be input or digital noise is generated, check the connection, cabling, and settings on the
D-160 and the external device.
* Refer to the instruction manual that came with the external digital device for more
information.
Recording

. Press the REWIND button while holding down the STOP button to locate the top of the
Program (ABS 0) (LOCATE ABS 0).

. Start recording on the external device.
You do not need to adjust the recording level in digital recording.

. Press the PLAY button to start playing back on the D-160.
Check to see if the level meter of the external device is moving, and responding to the
input signal.

. When recording is complete, stop the D-160 and the external device.
<Note>
* Do not remove the optical cable or perform any other operation that would disconnect
the digital signal until the session is complete. Otherwise, the D-160 will generate noise,
and affect the connected device.
