Questions About Channels and the Remote Control
Can I watch one channel while recording from another?
If you have antenna or cable without a cable box, you can do this by connecting an RF Coaxial cable from the
RF BYPASS OUT connector on the Recorder to the Antenna/RF In connector on the TV. (You will not have TiVo service
functionality on channels you watch using an RF cable that goes directly to your TV.)
You can always watch any program stored in Now Playing while the Recorder is recording a program.
I can’t get the channel to change.
If you use cable with no cable box:
Make sure you are using the correct remote control, and that you hold it so that the TiVo button points toward the Recorder.
Make sure that the batteries are positioned correctly in the remote. If they are, try a new set of batteries.
Restart your Recorder by unplugging it, waiting fifteen seconds, then plugging it back in.
Verify that the System Information screen shows that you selected “Cable without a box” during Guided Setup. Go to TiVo Central,
then select Messages & Setup, then System Information.
If you use a cable or satellite box with an IR control cable:
Make sure the cable or satellite box is turned on.
Make sure you are using the correct remote control, and that you hold it so that the TiVo button points toward the Recorder, not a
cable or satellite box.
Refer to the Start Here booklet to verify that the IR Control cable is positioned correctly.
