To change the password ():
To change the password for Parental Controls, Parental Controls must be on.
1. Select “Change Password” on the Parental Controls screen, then enter your old
password.
2. Enter a new password, then re-enter it for confirmation.
To turn off Parental Controls ():
Select “Turn off Parental Controls,” then enter your password. With Parental Controls off,
the password is deleted and no channels or programs are restricted.
Phone & Network
While the Recorder requires a phone line during Guided Setup, after Guided Setup, it must
also make a brief, periodic connection to the TiVo service to get program information for
the TiVo Live Guide, and updates to Showcases and TiVolution Magazine. This periodic
connection can be made over a phone line or over the Internet. To use the Internet, you
must connect the Recorder to a home network that includes a shared broadband Internet
connection (such as DSL or Internet through a cable modem). For more information on
connecting to a home network, see Chapter 8, “Connecting to a Home Network.”
The Recorder usually uses either the phone line or broadband connection for less than ten
minutes. You may also receive service updates to your Recorder from time to time. In
such cases, the connection time may be longer.
On the Phone & Network screen, you can see details (including the time of the last
successful connection to the TiVo service and last connection attempt), as well as the
status of the last connection.
