Upgrade an Existing G700 with an
S8300 (R2.0 to R2.x)
Use the following checklist to upgrade a G700 Media Gateway with the following characteristics:
The G700 has an S8300 Media Server configured as the primary controller.
or,
The G700 has an S8300 Media Server configured as an LSP and is controlled by either an S8300,
S8500, or S8700 Media Server.
You will use Chapter 6 with this checklist. For help with connecting to and logging in to the G700 or
S8300, see Connection Methods
in this chapter.

- Get the G700 serial number
- Check number of allocated ports
- Check FTP server for back up
- Get software/firmware files
- Complete the RFA process
- Download update (Patch) software to laptop, if necessary
On-site Preparation for the Upgrade

- Pre-Upgrade tasks — If the Target S8300 is the Primary
Controller
- Get IA770 data and stop IA770
- Back up recover system files
- Install new license and authentication files, if necessary
- Save translations, if new license and/or authentication
files installed
- Transfer files from CD or laptop
Upgrade the S8300
on page 282 Install the Upgrade Software:
- Decide whether to use the Wizard
- Manual installation
- Configure S8300
- Make the upgrade permanent
- Install Communication Manager update (patch), if any
- Install IA770 update (patch), if any
