Tracing Events
Flexibility in security
Like most of the Multi-Media security features, tracing events caused by a
View Operator event or
by your Multi-Media Unit event is optional. You can set a site to produce an alarm if these occur.
Alarms can be sent to specific PCs. See Multi-Media Alarm Stations, on p. 201. Tracing these
events is performed on a site-by-site basis.
Why trace events by
View Operator events or the Multi-Media Unit event?
When you suspect that: natural causes, operator error or misuse of your Multi system may be
compromising the effectiveness of a Rapid Eye site, you can trace a
View Operator event or a
Multi-Media Unit event.
Use tracing to monitor:
• Power outages. A site that regularly reboots, or that has long gaps in its recorded video
archive can be monitored.
• A breach to site security. You can be warned about some damage, vandalism or destruction
to a Rapid Eye site, due to hurricanes, fire or criminal activity.
• Operator error. Tracking critical operator actions that result in missing video images, can help
when unidentified problems start occurring and you suspect operator error.
