6 Click the Advanced tab.
7 Click the Advanced Port Settings button.
8 Click the Defaults button and then the OK button.
9 Click the Change Default Preferences... button, then click the Advanced tab.
10 Verify that the defaults are set:
— Data bits is 8
— Parity is none
— Stop bits is 1
— Modulation is Standard
11 Click OK three times to save and exit.
External modem not used
NOTE:
This procedure is necessary if the factory-shipped modem is not used.
1 Connect to the S8100 desktop.
2 Click Start → Settings → Control Panel.
3 Double-click Phone and Modem Options.
The Install New Modem wizard is displayed:
4 Click Don’t detect my modem. I will select it from a list.
5 Click Next.
6 Click Add.
7 Select the manufacturer (3COM Corp) and the model (US Robotics 33.6K FAX Ext).
8 Click Next.
9 Select the port the modem is attached to (COM1).
10 Click Next.
11 Under “On which ports do you want to install it?, select Selected ports.
